Anal sex is a great source of pleasure to many people, both male and female, although it is often not talked about as openly or as freely as other sexual topics. However, just because it’s not talked about, doesn’t mean that men and women rarely indulge...you’d be really surprised at just how popular anal sex is for both sexes!
It is a fact that the male version of the G-Spot (The Prostate Gland) is situated inside his anus. To locate it, put your finger approximately 3” inside the anus and stroke the front wall of the rectum. The Prostate feels like a firm bulge. Basically it is the prostate gland that produces ejaculatory fluid and it is situated along the nerve pathways which link the penis and the brain. Stimulate this area and any man should be well away! There are many ways in which to enjoy anal sensations ranging from plugs to beaded wands, to dildos, to vibrators. Fingers and willies are optional extras! To avoid any pooey mess we’d suggest you go to the loo a while prior to playing, bowels are normally self cleaning but having a wash before hand would make things much nicer and fresher!
Shapes
Just remember – anything that goes up your bum should either have a wide, flared (or ‘T’-bar) base to stop it disappearing inside you, or should be long enough for you to keep a firm grip on. It should be smooth (i.e. no sharp edges) and flexible especially if it is to go in deeper than 4” to allow it to follow the contours of your back passage!
Safety
With any form of anal play we cannot stress enough the importance of using a quality lube along with plenty of relaxation and gentle foreplay. The anus doesn’t produce it’s own lubrication so you have to add it yourself in order to reduce friction and avoid damage. When it comes to cuts and grazes the anus isn’t the quickest area to heal due to the fact that it is being used regularly – infections can set in as a result. So use plenty of lube OK!
We also strongly advise the use of a good quality condom for all types of anal play. Please remember that you should always change to a new condom when going from one orifice to the next in order to reduce any chances of infection. This applies to penises as well as all toys! NB. Do not use condoms or lubes with the ingredient N-9 for anal sex – some research suggests that the ingredient N-9 strips away the ‘epithelial cells’ in the rectal tissue which can lead to HIV transmission (source: Pink Paper 14.4.00). More recent studies back this up and even go further to suggest that N-9 is not good for vaginal intercourse either.
The sphincter is a strong muscle that opens and contracts and pulls inwards so only use a toy with a flared base to avoid it disappearing for good!
Words of Wisdom
Anal play can be totally erotic and orgasmic when done well but it can be a hellish nightmare if basic common sense rules are not adhered to. Always respect the limits of your partner...”No” or “stop” means “no” and “stop”. If it’s your first time.....take your time. Don’t spoil things by expecting too much too soon. Start with gentle massage of the anus and gentle (thin) insertions and gradually build up your expertise (over a period of time). Find out what you/your partner likes and dislikes. A top tip for beginners is to push your well lubed anus against the object to be inserted as opposed to the object being pushed into you. This way you control the pace that suits you!
